Measurement of mass flow rate in the purchase, sale, and storage of finished oil products
Release time:2022-08-24 13:15:56

In the process of importing, selling, and storing finished oil, it involves not only the measurement of volumetric flow rate, but also the measurement of mass flow rate. They are an important basis for activities such as production process control, data quality management, economic accounting, and trade handover. Before the advent of the Coriolis mass flowmeter, the previous mass flow measurement methods were obtained indirectly through correction, conversion, and compensation after measuring parameters such as density, volume, temperature, and pressure of the fluid. This measurement method has many intermediate links and large cumulative errors, making it difficult to ensure the accuracy of the measurement. With the development of science and technology, Coriolis mass flow meters that directly measure mass flow have emerged.

mass flowmeter

Coriolis force, English Coriolis effect, or Coriolis force for short, is a description of the displacement of a particle moving in a straight line in a rotating system due to its inertia relative to the linear motion of the rotating system. Mass flowmeter is a typical application of Coriolis force. The Coriolis force is only related to the quality and speed of the fluid. It theoretically eliminates the influence of changes in temperature, pressure, fluid state, density and other parameters on the measurement accuracy, and directly obtains accurate flow and density values of various media under complex environmental conditions. It does not need to go through intermediate parameter conversion, avoiding measurement errors caused by intermediate conversion, so as to achieve high-precision accurate measurement. In practical application, it can improve the accuracy of trade handover and economic accounting measurement, avoid unnecessary losses, and ensure the economic benefits of the company.

The Coriolis mass flowmeter, abbreviated as the Coriolis force flowmeter, consists of two main parts: a sensor and a transmitter.

(1) Sensors. The vast majority of mass flow meter sensors currently in use are CMF series "U" bend pipe sensors (with core processors) produced by Jiake Company. The installation of on-site mass flow meter is shown in Figure 1.

(2) Transmitters. At present, most of the mass flow meter transmitters used in finished oil pipelines are 1700R series or 2700R series, which are connected to the core processor of the sensor using a 4-core cable. Transmitters can generally output three types of signals: 4-20mA DC analog, pulse, and digital communication. The 4-20mA DC analog quantity can be configured as instantaneous flow rate, density, or temperature; Pulse signals can be configured as mass flow or volume flow; The communication interface can output instantaneous flow rate, cumulative flow rate, density, temperature, and diagnostic information of the flow meter.
